The key to a great flyer campaign from your specialist in small business graphic design

Flyer campaigns can be a great way to promote your business, but before you rush out and order 100,000 flyers for a drop there are a few things you should know. Flyers can yield great success but only if they are done with the right results in mind. What I mean by this is a flyer campaign is not going to result in a huge increase in sales. In general, if you get a ½% call back from flyers you are doing exceptionally well. Averages are much lower than this. But don't despair, there are ways to bring your % up and ways to use flyer campaigns for specific results.

So what will help you get your % up? O.k. there are a few things that can help.

Firstly make sure you have a target market that suits what your selling. This means that if your selling high end cars your dropping in a wealthy suburb, as that's where buyers of luxury cars are most likely to live.

Keep your message simple. Over communication is a killer on a flyer. Get your message across and leave it at that.

Good design is essential. A good designer will be able to help with your message and help you filter out what’s really not needed.

With all this said the best reason for a flyer drop is not to generate new business but to keep existing business. Quite simply, if your not communicating and keeping your business in the mind of your consumer you can bet your opposition is. Flyers are a great, relatively cheap way of keeping your brand in the mind of your consumer. Real estate and fast food outlets use this to their benefit every day.

My advice is to build your brand. By all means use flyer drops to get your business known, especially if you are new in the area, but once you have created a position for yourself in the area, use flyers to keep your position in the mind of the consumer.
