Graphic designers encourage small business website to go

I have to admit that the very first thing I do every morning after opening my eyes is to check my phone. After looking through all the notifications I missed during the night, I automatically move my finger and tap the social media icon. Are you guilty of that?

This “ritual” has become part of waking up to start off a day for many of us. Our dependency on smartphones continues the rest of the time in a day until we close our eyes and sleep again. Then the cycle goes on and on.

Because of this pattern of behaviour, we urge small business owners in Sydney and Melbourne to make their websites compatible on smartphones. Here are some statistics about Australian consumers according to Our Mobile Planet: Australia report by Google last year:

  • 65% of Australians own a smartphone and never leave home without it
  • Addiction to smartphones have no sign of diminishing
  • 90% of the smartphone users look for local information on their devices
  • 86% actually take action to contact the business or make a purchase
  • 78% of the users have researched a product or service on their smartphones
  • 41% made a purchase on their devices

Those figures above are not small at all, in fact, it’s huge and suggests that the way how smartphones have shaped the way consumers shop. Smartphone research influences buyer decisions and purchases across channels

The most important learning point for small business owners is to make your business visible and easy to find online. Therefore, be a “pin” on Google Maps! That is step one, then make sure your contact number is clickable to encourage potential consumers to connect with your business. Other than that, your website have to be compatible on mobile devices so that it is user friendly to smartphone users.
